Emirati occupation force recruits militants to suppress popular protest in Socotra

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) occupation has recruited more than 1,000 militants to repress popular unrest of Socotra residents who are opposed to the invaders’ presence on the island.

Ramzi Mahrous, the so-called governor of Socotra in the Hadi puppet government, confirmed on Monday that the UAE occupation has brought dozens of mercenaries, in addition to recruiting at least 1,000 militants, to fight against island residents.

He noted that the UAE has established military sites east and west of Socotra, on the southern and northern coasts and on the airport campus, and continues to build them.

Mahrous pointed out that the occupation suspended the normal procedures at the island’s ports, especially the island airport.

He said the UAE continues to send foreigners to Socotra visa-free, as well as sending ships carrying communication equipment and other tools to the island.
