Yemeni students in Russia protest against budget cuts

Yemeni students in Russia have started on Monday to carry out an open sit-in, protesting the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education in the Hadi government-in-exile to drop 113 students from the financial entitlement statements for the first quarter of the year 2020, as well as condemning delayed tuition fees and financial dues for three consecutive quarters.

The protesting students called on the Ministry of Higher Education and the Hadi government to stop manipulating the future of the country’s wealth from Yemen’s finest students and academics.

At the same time, they stressed the rejection of arbitrary decisions and the need to fulfill all obligations for students on scholarships.

The head of the Preparatory Committee for Yemeni Students in Russia said in a press statement that the Yemeni students in Russia will always stand against all those who manipulate the students’ future abroad, stressing that their escalatory steps are continuing and will not stop until the government and the Ministry of Higher Education abides by all their obligations and send the donations of financial dues.

Yemeni students on scholarship abroad live in difficult conditions due to the delay in financial dues and the irresponsible decisions taken by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Saudi-led Hadi puppet government.
