Huge drugs shipment seized aboard Saudi ship in Aden

Navigation sources at the port of Aden on Tuesday revealed new details about a huge shipment of drugs that arrived in the port at an earlier time and was seized by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

This was reported by Yemen News Portal.

The sources said that the shipment of illegal drugs was hidden inside a sugar shipment in several containers on board a ship that had departed from the Saudi port of Jeddah.

The vessel is owned by certain military leaders of the Saudi-UAE alliance.

Aden’s security service announced on Monday that a shipment of up to 3 tons of drugs had been seized after it left the container port of Aden.

In the same context, pro-UAE leader Shalala Shaye’a threatened on Tuesday to “expose” the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed al-Jaber, holding him responsible for the drug smuggling operation.

Sources in the UAE-backed STC said that Shaye’a directed his forces to strengthen their measures in the container port after the threat of Saudi forces to storm it.

The sources pointed out that he received a notification from the UAE forces about the route of the ship that set off from the port of Jeddah and was emptied in the port of Aden.

This prompted Shaye’a to direct the emergency forces to surround the port and seize the cargo, which was about to leave after completing its procedures.

The escalation comes amid Saudi pressure to depose and replace Shaye’a, which has led to significant unrest in occupied Aden.
