Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif announced on Thursday that the US government “is no longer able to control the course of events in the world.”
During his visit to Venezuela on Thursday, Zarif said “the time of Western hegemony has passed.”
He added: “Today, the United States and its allies cannot control the course of events in the world. They have lost control. ”
Zarif commended Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for his resistance against the US campaign to topple him.
For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arisa affirmed that his country’s relationship with Iran has reached a new peak.
He said that Maduro’s administration might acquire Iranian weapons in future if needed.
Zarif arrived in the Venezuelan capital on Wednesday, as the first stop in a Latin American tour that includes Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela.
