Transport ship bound for Socotra sinks off the coast of Oman

A wooden cargo ship has sunk off the coast of Oman on Monday carrying goods and private cars owned by the people of Socotra Island, local reports reported on Monday.

According to shipping industry sources, the wooden cargo ship, with more than 30 vehicles on board, as well as various materials and goods, was on its way to Socotra.

The sources attributed the sinking of the ship that left the UAE coast due to its excess cargo.

The crew of the ship, most of whom are of Indian nationality, reportedly all survived the sinking.

Since the capture of Socotra by UAE occupation forces, the people of the archipelago have suffered a suffocating siege. High transport costs and high prices have increased the suffering of the people and inhabitants of the island.
