Mohammed al-Houthi approves of UN General Secretary statement on Yemen

Member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, on Saturday commented on the remarks of UN Secretary-General António Guterres regarding Yemen.

Al-Houthi affirmed that the UN remark was a positive step to draw the world’s attention to the suffering of the Yemeni people, as a result of the blockade imposed by the US-backed Saudi-led coalition on Yemen.

He called on Guterres to condemn and lift the blockade violating all international principles and laws, and the presence of the UN-licensed ships.

“We don’t not accept any obstacles, and call for a joint meeting with officials of international organisations to study the allegations of all obstacles and to bring actual solutions,” al-Houthi said.

He pointed out that the deterioration of the Yemeni economy and its local currency has been a result of the failure of the coalition countries and their agent Hadi to fulfill their obligations.

Al-Houthi indicated that those obligations came as a result of the UN Security Council’s approval of the transfer of the Central Bank’s operations away from the capital Sana’a.
