Yemen forces liberate key military camp near Ma’rib city as Saudi-led forces retreat

The Yemeni army has regained control of the strategic Maas camp in Ma’rib province, after fierce confrontations with the Saudi-led coalition forces, military sources said.

The Maas camp is the last stronghold of the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government forces, in the districts of Ma’rib province, in addition to being an important location for fire control over the city of Ma’rib itself.

Meanwhile, local sources in the city of Ma’rib said that military and political and leaders loyal to the coalition have fled with their families towards Shabwah province, further south.

Ma’rib has many oil fields, in particular the Safer oil refinery, and also is a key producer of natural gas, supplying the entire country.

Ma’rib province and its provincial capital therefore form a major strategic position for the Saudi invading forces and their mercenaries.

The Yemeni Armed Forces and Popular Committees have been steadily liberating areas of Ma’rib province for several months now, drawing ever closer to the city itself.
