At least 8 Syrian civilians killed in crossfire as Turkish and US-backed occupation forces fight one another

At least eight civilians were killed and about 20 others were injured in Afrin area in Aleppo’s northern countryside, as a result of mutual shelling between the Turkish occupation forces and their terrorist mercenaries on the one hand, and US-backed Kurdish-majority militants on the other hand, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, citing local source.

According to local sources, rocket and heavy artillery shelling erupted on Saturday between Turkish occupation forces and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militias, leading to various residential areas in Afrin city and the surrounding villages being bit in the crossfire.

The fighting claimed the lives of eight civilians and injured 20 others, as well as causing material damage to both private and public properties.

The sources added that a number of SDF militants Turkish mercenaries were killed in the mutual shelling.

Both the Turkish and the US-backed forces have been occupying Syrian territory for several years, in flagrant violation of Syria’s territorial sovereignty and international law.
