Southern Yemeni political activist Sufyan al-Ammari: invasion of Yemen no longer has a clear plan of action

The conflict in Yemen’s southern provinces will see a major escalation in the future between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, according to the analysis of Sufyan al-Ammari, a southern Yemeni political leader and General Secretary of the Yemen People’s Democratic Party.

“What is happening in the southern provinces is a very natural product of the conflict of agendas that has reached the hour of truth today,” al-Ammari said in an interview with Iranian news broadcaster Al-Alam News Network.

He pointed out that the problem of the coalition factions is that “they are implementing the agendas of agents who today have lost their own compass, because Washington’s interference in the negotiations about Yemen is now without a clear agenda.”

“The US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking arrived in the region recently, but has no clear project of what to do, which has caused confusion for Washington’s agents in the region,” he added.

On the conflict in Abyan province between the UAE-backed Southern Transtional Council (STC) and the Saudi-backed Islah Party, which is the Yemeni branch of the international Muslim Brotherhood, al-Ammari said that “what is happening is evidence of the confusion of the occupation’s tools, and of the attempt of each side to hide around its gains regardless of the final outcome.”

Al-Ammari warned that the conflict in southern Yemen will see a major escalation between the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the near future.
