Yemen Foreign Minister calls on UN Security Council to act against Saudi blockade

Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, has on Monday sent letters to the Foreign Ministers of the five permanent members of the Security Council, as well as the Group of 19 sponsoring the process of a peaceful political settlement in Yemen.

In the letters, the Foreign Minister warned of the media and political deception practiced by the Saudi regime and the so-called government of outgoing President Hadi, which is based in Riyadh.

He referred to the economic war and the policy of systematic starvation of the Yemeni people that is carried out through the continued detention of fuel ships by the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries, while claiming to the world that they are allowing the ships to enter the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.

Minister Sharaf called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Yemeni people, by releasing the detained fuel ships that have already obtained UN permits to unload their cargo in the port of Hodeidah.
