International Union of Muslim Scholars condemns UAE and Bahrain for collaboration with Israel

President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ahmad al-Raysuni has called the UAE and Bahraini normalisation of relations with Israel as an “unjustified betrayal and a coup against the Arab and Islamic nation,” and said the move “embodies baseness of the rulers.”

In an interview with Qatari state-owned news channel al-Jazeera, Dr. Al-Raysuni stressed that the agreement signed by the UAE and Bahrain with Israel serves the interests of the Zionist occupation and supports its crimes against the Palestinian people.

“I answered questions I heard from some of the supporters of normalisation who ask: when was there a state called Palestine? When was al-Quds the capital? I have questions about how long we have had a country called the UAE? And a state called Israel with Tel Aviv as its capital?” the scholar continued.

“The rulers of the UAE, Bahrain and other countries allied with Israel are just cheap tools in the hands of Tel Aviv and Washington, and are being used by Israeli intelligence. They think that themselves, their chairs and their thrones will be protected by Israel,” he said.

Bahrain and the UAE signed an agreement with Israel in mid September, during a ceremony held at the White House in Washington, in the presence of US President Donald Trump. There has been widespread popular rejection of the agreement, especially among the peoples of the two countries whose governments have now allied themselves with Zionism.
