President of Iran: Time for the world to say no to Western hegemony

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said it was time for the world to say “no” to Western hegemony, stressing that the West could not impose neither negotiations nor war, nor treat Iran as a bargaining chip in the US elections.

“We will not accept the bargaining of our freedom in the face of the pressures that are being put on us,” Rouhani said in during his speech to the UN General Assembly.

He stressed that the Iranian people have been resisting for decades in defence of their quest for freedom from hegemony and tyranny.

“We will not accept any compromise on Al-Quds al-Sharif [Jerusalem] and al-Aqsa,” he said.

“The US is the only one in the world who has ever used nuclear weapons, and the Zionist entity is the only one in the region that possesses this weapon,” Rouhani said.

Iran has been calling for sustainable peace for decades.

“We stood with the government and the people of Lebanon in the face of the Zionist occupation, we stood by Kuwait when the regime of Saddam Hussein attacked it,” the president continued.

“We confronted Daesh to let the world know what is true Islam. The martyr Qassem Soleimani defended all religious branches in the region and confronted terrorism,” Hassan Rouhani concluded.
