A senior official in the Saudi-led Hadi puppet government was injured on Tuesday in an assassination attempt in Lahj province, local sources said.
Local sources said that “unknown gunmen” targeted the director general of Tor al-Bahah district, Abdul Raqeeb al-Bakiri, in an attempt to liquidate him, confirming that al-Bakiri was wounded.
The Directorate of Tor al-Baha is the main axis of conflict between the UAE-backed Southern transitional Council and the Saudi-backed Islah party.
The director general succeeded recently in defusing tension by the establishment of a military operations room comprising the factions of Islah militants and local tribes, however decided to exclude the STC militias from this venture.
