A number of military figures, sheikhs and representatives of the Fishermen’s Association on the Yemeni Island of Socotra have decide, in a meeting held on Sunday, to try prevent ship-owners from transporting UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militias to the island.
A statement, issued by the meeting, stressed the need for ship and boat owners to pledge not to transfer or bring any elements of the STC to the island.
The meeting held the Emirati occupation fully responsible for any acts of violence and fighting between the people of Socotra.
During the past two days alone, the UAE has brought hundreds of troops from Dhalea province and Yafea’ area to the island, in order to confront and suppress those who oppose the ongoing occupation.
