Violent clashes have broken out on Saturday in Al-Ghaydah city, the capital of Mahrah province in eastern Yemen, a local source reported.
The source noted that the clashes were with a cell believed to be Al-Qaeda militants in the city, after the killing of three unidentified gunmen in clashes took place on Friday.
Several militants were arrested in Friday’s confrontations, and were handed over to the Saudi forces at Al-Ghaydah airport, the source added.
According to the sources, Saudi Arabia is using the terrorist activity as an excuse to legitimise its illegal military presence in Mahrah.
