The Presidium of the Yemeni Parliament in its meeting on Thursday, headed by Speaker Yahya Al-Ra’i, decided to send urgent messages to the United Nations, the UN Security Council and all parliaments of the world.
The messages are concerning the humanitarian situation and the catastrophic effects of the continual detention of oil derivative ships by Saudi-led coalition countries, as well as the continued aggression and siege on the Yemeni people, amid a suspicious silence by the United Nations, the Security Council, and the international community.
The messages indicated that thousands of children in hospitals are threatened with death, along with thousands of patients with kidney failure, if the fuel supply of Yemen were to run out.
In its messages, the Parliament’s presidium expressed its hope that the United Nations as well as all parliamentary unions and parliaments would take initiative to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and to quickly take the necessary measures to release fuel ships in order to avoid an imminent and unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
The Parliament presidium held the Security Council and the United Nations fully responsible for the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of their weak position towards the criminal acts practiced by the Saudi-led aggression coalition countries against the Yemeni population.
