Yemen welcomes UN Envoy statements on Hodeidah ceasefire

Head of the Yemeni negotiating delegation and spokesman for Ansarullah, Mohammed Abdulsalam, has on Thursday welcomed the statement of the UN Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in which he stressed the necessity of commitment to the Stockholm Agreement on Hodeidah.

“We welcome the statement of the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths regarding the commitment to the Stockholm Agreement and the positive and the effective dealing with the joint implementation mechanisms of the United Nations mission to support the Hodeidah agreement,” Abdulsalam said in a tweet on his account on Twitter.

The UN envoy had expressed his concern about the military escalation in Hodeidah province, as it is not only a violation of the ceasefire agreement, but also contradicts the spirit of the existing negotiations sponsored by the United Nations to reach a ceasefire in all parts of Yemen.

In his statement Thursday, Griffiths called on all parties to immediately stop the hostilities, respect their commitments in the Stockholm Agreement and interact with the efforts of the United Nations mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement
