Local activists from Yemeni Socotra Island circulated on Tuesday what they said the first picture from inside the “Emirati-Israeli” military base on the island.
Activists on social media indicated that the circulated image reveals the extent of the destruction of the natural environment, which the UAE has turned into barracks and military sites.
Since last June, the UAE has taken control of many strategic sites on the Socotra island, including “Ras Qattainan” area, southwest of Socotra, towards Samha and Abdulkori islands and the Horn of Africa, and the “Jamjmah Maumi” area, located in the far northeast of Socotra, in addition to the “Balabouda” area near Socotra Airport, which was turned into a joint military base with the Israeli Navy.
Last week, the UAE moved to establish a new camp in “Sarheen” area, amid the mass displacement of the people of the area.
