Fierce armed clashes have on Wednesday renewed between Hadi’s forces and UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in the southern governorate of Abyan, local sources reportedز
Mohammed al-Naqib , spokesman for the STC in Abyan, said in a tweet on Thursday that Hadi forces carried out drone attacks against his forces’ positions in the province.

Abyan has been the scene of intense shelling along the front lines of the fighting in Tariyah and Sheikh Salem areas for the past three days.
The announcement of a military escalation by Hadi’s forces coincides with the start of new attempts by Saudi Arabia to move forward with the Riyadh Accord, which has been stalled since it was signed a year ago.
