Twitter censors account of Iranian ambassador to Yemen

The Iranian ambassador in Yemen, Hassan Erlo, reported on Sunday that his account on social media site Twitter had been closed.

Erlo told Al-Alam TV channel that pressure from the Saudi lobby was the culprit behind the blocking of his Twitter account.

Twitter’s decision to enact censorship on the ambassador came right after the Iranian ambassador participater in the major central celebration held last Thursday afternoon, on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday in Sana’a.

This event is the first that the Iranian ambassador attends after submitting his credentials to Sana’a as the new representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
