Mohammed al-Houthi comments on Jeddah attack

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a top member in Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, has commented on the powerful explosion that has rocked an oil export port in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah.

“We may consider protecting Saudi ports, if asked to do so, especially when the US and UK apparently fail,” said Al-Houthi in a tweet .

“The incident is a terrorist incident as announced by Saudi Arabia, and the Yemeni security and military agencies have substantial experience in fighting US terrorism and its affiliates,” he added.

On Monday, the Saudi Energy Ministry announced that a fuel ship had been hit by a terrorist attack off Jeddah port .

“In the early hours of Monday, a fuel-carrying vessel, which was anchored in the area designated for unloading fuel in Jeddah, was attacked by a booby-trapped boat, resulting in a small fire,” the official SPA news agency quoted an official source at the Saudi Energy Ministry as saying.

“Fire and safety units were able to put out the fire, and there were no injuries or loss of life, nor did it cause any damage to the fuel dumping facilities or affect its supplies,” the source said.
