Mohammed al-Houthi welcomes news of possible end to Saudi blockade of Qatar

Top member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has commented on Monday evening on the steps to be taken ahead of the 41st Gulf Summit in Riyadh on Tuesday, which promised to end the Gulf boycott of Qatar.

“We congratulate Qatar and its people on lifting the blockade and we congratulate the return of relations between them and Saudi Arabia,” al-Houthi said on his Twitter account.

“It will be the beginning of ending the wars and tensions in the region and the return of Arab wisdom through strengthening brotherhood and stopping the aggression and the siege on Yemen,” he said.

“Three points will confirm the inevitability of the outcome of the Gulf reconciliation with Qatar under the auspices of Kuwait.

These points are:

The lifting of the blockade should not be a formality (…). It should not be for the sake of normalisation with the Zionist entity (…) [and] it should stem from the independence of each country while maintaining its international peer-to-peer relations.”
