At least one militant was killed and another wounded in confrontations that erupted on Wednesday between two armed gangs and lasted for hours in Taiz city, southwest Yemen.
Local sources said that the clashes occurred between members of the so-called Omar Al-Zaqaa group on one side, and others of the called Dhiaa Al-Dahma armed unit on the other hand, and ended with the killing of a gunman and the injury of another in Bir Basha area, west of the city.
The clashes started from midnight Tuesday and lasted until until Wednesday morning, and caused a state of fear and terror among the residents of neighbourhoods, the sources added, noting that the two gangs are supported by various military leaders of the Islah Party.
The areas under the control of Islah in Taiz have witnessed continued insecurity and constant clashes between pro-coalition factions.
