Twitter suspends Trump’s campaign account

Social media platform Twitter has on Saturday suspended US President Donald Trump’s campaign account, accusing him of violating its rules.

Trump accused Twitter of conspiring to “silence him,” saying the platform “muzzles the mouths of freedom of expression.”

Trump said he would consider building his own platform, after Twitter permanently suspended his account for fear of further incitement to violence.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter “due to the risk of further incitement of violence”, the company said.

It added that the decision was made “after close review of recent Tweets from the Donald Trump account”.

The decision comes after supporters of Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol building during a session of Congress, trying to disrupt a parliamentary session set to confirm Joe Biden as president-elect.
