Huge fire sets Aden presidential place ablaze

A huge fire broke out early Saturday inside the residence of Hadi’s government in the southern port city of Aden, local sources said.

The sources said that the flames were seen rising at dawn from inside the Al-Masheeq Palace, where Hadi’s new government has been in place since its arrival to Aden a month ago.

The sources explained that a massive smoke cloud covered the sky of the area around the palace, as fire brigades failed to control it.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Saudi forces had earlier sent large reinforcements to the Al-Masheeq Palace, which includes large amounts of equipment and weapons.

This indicates that there are concerns for Hadi’s government, after escalated threats by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council to expel Hadi and his administration from the city.
