Saudi Arabia suspends all recreational activities in response to spike in Covid-19 cases

Saudi Arabia has on Thursday announced about a number of precautionary measures to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19), coinciding with the emergence of indicators of an increase in the epidemic curve in some regions of the country.

An official source at the Interior Ministry said that all events and parties, including weddings and corporate meetings, were scheduled to be suspended for 30 days, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

It was also decided to stop all recreational activities and events, and to close cinemas and indoor entertainment centers, independent indoor games venues in restaurants, shopping malls and so on, lounges and sports centres, for 10 days at least.

The new procedures were scheduled to be introduced as of 10 PM on Thursday, stressing that these measures are subject to continuous evaluation with the health authorities.
