Yemeni conjoined twins set to travel to Jordan on Saturday for separation surgery

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Najeeb Al-Qubati, announced on Thursday that the recently born conjoined twins are in a stable condition and will be transferred to Jordan on Saturday for their separation surgery.

Dr. Al-Qubati stressed in a press statement, that the rapid surgical intervention is an essential step to avoid any complications for the lives of the twins.

“The ministry fulfilled its duty in this matter, and has sent the required reports to those concerned in Jordan,”*he added.

The Health Ministry spokesman indicated that the case of the conjoined twins is a. example of the suffering of Yemeni children, pointing out that there are more than 3,000 cases of congenital anomalies that are in need of treatment abroad.

Dr. Al-Qubati furthermore revealed that 72,000 cases of cancer are registered with the National Cancer Center, indicating that there are other cases in remote areas that cannot reach the capital of Sana’a for treatment.
