At least 19 Boko Haram members killed in Nigerian army offensive

At least 19 members of the Boko Haram Wahhabi terrorist group were killed on Friday during a military operation launched by the Nigerian army in the north-east of the country.

The official Nigerian media confirmed that the clashes took place during the operation also resulted in the injury of a large number of militants and the seizure of five armed vehicles belonging to the Boko Haram group, in addition to large quantities of seized
ammunition.

A military source said that Boko Haram fighters, who were driving eight military trucks, tried earlier to attack a military base in the town of Rann in what appeared to be an ambush.

The source added that the forces immediately withdrew from their base in order to thwart the attack, while the army launched an intense air and ground counterattack against the terrorists.
