Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has revealed details about the detention of Adel Al-Hasani, a freelance journalist who has been arrested and forcibly detained by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in the city of Aden.
RSF called for the immediate release of Adel Al-Hasani, who has been held arbitrarily for nearly five months .
According to the RSF, no one knew where the journalist even, was until he managed to call his wife a week after his capture.
Another month went by before she and his lawyer were finally able to visit him in prison, and confirm that he was in reasonably good health.
Al-Hasani works as a fixer by foreign media such as the BBC, CNN and France 24.
On the eve of his arrest, Al-Hasani received a call from an Emirati intelligence officer who told him to stop his work.
For its part, journalism organisation Skyline International called on the STC and the UAE government to release Al-Hasani.
It also called on all the international community to taken action in order to stop repeated the violations against civilians and activists by the STC and the UAE.
Previous international reports have recommended that the international community put pressure on the UAE to close its illegal prisons in southern Yemen.
