Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakkil, said on Wednesday that the United Nations has tampered with about $1.7 billion of aid funds for Yemen, under the pretext of the corona pandemic.
During an expanded meeting of health sector leaders held in Sana’a, Dr. Al- Mutawakkil called on the United Nations to “fulfill its minimum duty to bring fuel ships in for the health sector.”
The Health Minister pointed out that the Health ministry has put in place an emergency plan to manage the fuel needs of hospitals and health facilities, in light of the continuation of the Saudi-led coalition countries in preventing fuel ships from reaching the port of Hodeidah.
He confirmed that at least 1,200,000 women in Yemen suffer from malnutrition; half of these are pregnant. In addition, there are 600,000 prematurely born babies needing incubators to survive.
