Minister of Public Health and Population Dr.Taha Al-Mutawakkil, has on Wednesday met with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen, Hassan Erlo, regarding areas of health cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting touched on the possibility of supporting aspects of training and qualification for medical personnel, especially in the field of ophthalmology, in addition to supporting hospitals and providing the necessary medical equipment for them.
In the meeting, Dr. Al-Mutawakkil affirmed Yemen’s keenness to enhance health cooperation between the two countries, referring to the catastrophic health situation in Yemen as a result of the continued detention of oil derivative ships by the Saudi-led aggression coalition.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador affirmed the willingness of Iran to support the health sector in Yemen, and to work to provide medical devices and equipment, especially in regards to training, rehabilitation, and response, in order to support Yemen’s hospitals.
