The civil defence teams in the capital Sana’a have put out a major fire, which broke out in one of the commercial hangers and mechanical workshops in Al-Sabeen district at noon on Monday.
The fire was extinguished before it could spread to neighbouring homes and stores, said Colonel Mohammed Buhish, director of the civil defence in the capital.
He added that the fire caused material losses but no civilian casualties, indicating that several shops and six cars were damaged, including three on the street, while one of the houses was partially damaged.
Colonel Buhish called for a commitment to provide means of security and safety in public and private facilities, in order to reduce fire accidents.
