Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia has requested a supply of Turkish military drones.
“We have received a request from Saudi Arabia regarding armed drones,” Erdoğan said.
Relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been strained for years due to issues about foreign policy, especially after the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.
The Bloomberg media agency quoted informed sources as saying that Saudi Arabia and the UAE have started initial moves to improve their relations with Turkey, which could lead to improving fields of trade and security in the Middle East.
On the other hand, Turkish officials denied any direct or indirect contacts with Abu Dhabi and Riyadh that guarantees demands to change Ankara’s policy towards the Muslim Brotherhood, an organisation that is actively banned and persecuted by Saudi Arabia but receives Turkish backing.
