The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas has said that the health of its former representative in Saudi Arabia, Mohammed al-Khodri, who has been detained there since 2019, has deteriorated significantly.
The movement’s spokesman Hazem Qasem said that al-Khodri, aged. 83, is suffering from difficult health conditions in Saudi prison.
“He is suffering from chronic diseases, he is old, and living conditions inside prisons have worsened his health,” he told Anadolu Agency.
Al-Khodri is being held without any charges, and without having committed any crime, Qasem said, calling on the Saudi authorities to immediately release Al-Khodri and all other Hamas detainees.
Amnesty International recently revealed the deterioration in Al-Khodri’s health, the lack of full medical care and poor conditions of his detention.
Al-Khodri did not have access to his lawyer for a long time, and numerous violations of the legal requirements of the trial have been committed against him.
Al-Khodri has been detained since 2019, along with dozens of Palestinians in Saudi Arabia, and was transferred to court on charges of “terrorism” more than a year later, as part of a Saudi campaign of collaboration with the Zionist entity.
