The Minister of Defence in the Saudi-backed Hadi government, Mohammed al-Maqdashi, has on Wednesday survived an assassination attempt in one of camps of the Saudi-led coalition forces in the city of Ma’rib.
According to sources, al-Maqdashi was exposed to a failed assassination attempt while attending a reception for military groups of Islah militants and al-Qaeda members coming from Abyan province, meant to reinforce the collapsed coalition forces on the outskirts of the city of Ma’rib.
The sources explained that officers of the 3th Military Region fired a barrage of bullets towards al-Maqdashi, due to disagreements as a result of plundering the financial dues provided by the coalition countries.
A number of Al-Maqdashi’s companions were injured in the attack, but the minister reportedly survived.
