President of Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat has on Thursday sent a congratulatory cable to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the occasion of the national day of the Syrian Arab Republic.
In the cable, President al-Mashat expressed his best congratulations to President al-Assad and the brotherly Syrian people on the occasion of the celebrations of Evacuation Day, as the national independence day of Syria is officially called.
The President confirmed that “the leadership, government and people of Yemen stand by the brotherly Syrian people in their battle to establish security and stability on all Syrian lands and defeat all conspiracies against their country.”
The national day of the Syrian Arab Republic is known as Evacuation Day, named after the departure of the last French colonial soldiers on 17 April 1946 and the subsequent proclamation of Syrian independence.
