The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) if Iran have defeated a team of terrorists in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, killing three, Tasnim News Agency reported, citing IRGC’s statement.
The IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base said in a statement that the group had plans to carry out terrorist operations in the region.
The IRGC servicemen ambushed the terrorists after gathering intelligence, and destroyed it, the statement added.
Three terrorists were killed in the attack, which also resulted in the confiscation of ammunition and weapons.
For a couple of years, the IRGC has been tasked with ensuring the security of the southeastern border areas, in cooperation with local residents.
Located in the southeast of Iran, Sistan and Balouchestan borders Pakistan and Afghanistan and has a long coastline with the Sea of Oman, making it a point of entry for many Wahhabi or other terrorist organisation that seek to destabilise Iran.
