Unidentified gunmen assassinated an escort of a security leader in the southern port city of Aden on Sunday, local sources said.
According to the local sources, unidentified assailants killed the guard of Dar Saad’s police chief in Caputa district, after which they fled.
Tuesday’s incident comes in addition to a recent series of assassinations targeting security and military leaders, civilian and political figures and activists.
As a part of the insecurity, clashes broke out between gunmen and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Jawlat al-Safeenah in the city of Aden.
According to local sources, unidentified gunmen attacked a pickup vehicle belonging to the Security Belt mercenary forces.
The sources explained that the attack resulted in the death and injury of members of the Security Belt.
The gunmen fled after the operation, the sources added.
Aden is witnessing a state of insecurity and liquidations, as well as growing infighting between the STC and pro-Hadi elements.
