The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths has on Monday met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
During the meeting, they discussed developments in Ma’rib in particular and Yemen in general.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Shoukry discussed with Griffiths “the latest developments in Yemen and ways to support efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the crisis.” No more details were given by the ministry.
On Saturday evening, Griffiths arrived in Egypt from Jordan for an official visit to discuss the latest developments on the Yemeni scene, in light of efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen.
According to the paper, Griffiths will meet with a number of senior Egyptian officials and the Arab League during his visit.
Egypt has been an official member of the Saudi-led invading coalition since the start of the invasion in 2015.
