Saudi Arabia has confirmed on Tuesday that its largest oil export port on the Red Sea coast has been attacked by sea.
The ministry said in a statement that the attack was carried out by sea vessels, noting that investigations are continuing to find out the details of the attack.
An international shipping company revealed that the port of Yanbu, the main Saudi oil export port, was attacked.
It explained that the attack damaged an oil ship and the port, but Reuters quoted the Saudi National Shipping Company as saying that the ship was not affiliated with it.
The attack comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is trying to find rapprochement with Iran, which could bear international imprints as regional and Western parties are continuously trying to curb any possible Saudi-Iranian agreement.
