Al-Qaeda operatives have kidnapped a Saudi commander and a number of his companions in Ma’rib city, local sources said on Sunday.
The sources explained that gunmen from Al-Qaeda kidnapped evening a Saudi military commander and two of his companions as they were leaving Ma’rib towards the Al-Wadiah border crossing.
The move came as a protest against a drone raid believed to be American, which targeted a meeting of Al-Qaeda leaders with Islah Party militia leaders at the home of Sheikh bin Jalal last week.
According to the sources, the Saudi-led coalition forces and the pro-coalition Hadi puppet government authorities have withheld details about the identity of the kidnapped Saudi leader.
