For the third time, the United States of America has blocked a joint statement of the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupation entity.
Diplomatic sources were quoted by media as saying on Monday that the United States had made its position that “more time should be given to its diplomatic efforts.”
The draft statement was prepared by China, Tunisia and Norway, criticised both the Zionist entity and the Palestinian resistance.
The UN Security council’s closed sessions reviewed the draft statement on Monday and Wednesday last week.
The draft statement was supported by 14 of the 15 Council members, but the adoption of the statement required unanimous approval in order to pass.
