The official spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, has on Friday revealed new details about the specifications of the Saudi drone that was downed on Thursday in Najran province, southwestern Saudi Arabia.
Brigadier General Sare’e confirmed in a statement that “The reconnaissance drone shot down Yesterday at Najran Front is a Chinese Wing Loong-2 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), operated by the Saudi-led coalition forces. The coalition bought it earlier this year.”
طائرة الاستطلاع المقاتلة التي تم إسقاطها بالأمس في جبهة نجران هي من نوع Wing Loong2 صينية الصنع تابعة لسلاح الجو السعودي، اشتراها مطلع العام الجاري.

He noted that the operation is documented by the military media and will be broadcasted later.
The plane was hit with a surface-to-air missile of a type which has not yet been revealed to the general public, while it was carrying out hostile actions in the airspace of the Najran front, Sare’e added.
