Saudi Arabia enacts further discriminatory measures against Yemeni expatriate workers

Saudi authorities have on Sunday set new conditions for Yemenis to enter Saudi territory, and returned hundreds of passengers from the al-Wadea land crossing despite them having received a corona vaccine dose.

Travelers said the Saudis had informed them to obtain a second dose of vaccine as a condition for entering their land.

Health sources said that the period for obtaining a second dose for the vaccine is 8 to 12 weeks, which means that Yemeni expatriates and travelers will not be able to enter Saudi Arabia before this period expires.

The decision is expected to harm many expatriates because of their absence from their jobs in Saudi Arabia, and their continued inability to renew residence permits, the sources said.
