Sixteen people, including children and women from one and the same family, have died on Friday in a horrific traffic accident in the Tor al-Baha area of Lahj province, southern Yemen, medical and local sources said.
The sources explained that the accident, which occurred in al-Farsha area, in Tor Al-Baha, was caused by a collision with a bus carrying a family travelling to Aden and a Prado SUV belonging to an international organisation.
The sources added that the incident caused the crowded bus to catch on fire, resulting in the death of 16 people and the injury of three others.
This is the second largest traffic accident in Lahj since the beginning of this year, after a similar accident in the city of Al-Huta resulted in the deaths of 15 passengers in March.
