Leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, has said the resistance “has proven to the Israelis that somebody’s protecting al-Aqsa Mosque, and has thwarted the occupation’s plans to target it.”
Speaking before academics and public figures in Gaza on Saturday, Sinwar stressed that “if the confrontation erupts again, the entire Middle East will change,” underlining that there are “great surprises” in this regard.
He assured that Palestinian factions used only “half of their force” in the latest conflict with the Israeli regime in May, adding that the fighting was meant only “to test our strength.”
The Hamas leader noted that Israel sought to target more than 10,000 resistance fighters during the latest attacks on Gaza but failed completely, as “ninety fighters were killed at most.”
On the other hand, Sinwar said that the Palestinian resistance will reject any attempt to keep Gaza affected by the destruction caused by the Israeli war, adding that “all who plan to support the Gazans or invest in the Strip are welcomed.”
Sinwar, also noted that the Palestine Liberation Organisation must be reorganised, in order to allow Hamas and other resistance factions to join, emphasising that all the political concepts that were adopted by the PLO figures before Operation Al-Quds Sword have become useless.
Tel Aviv launched a bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip on May 10, following violent Zionist raids on worshipers in the al-Aqsa Mosque and against Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of East Jerusalem al-Quds.
