Death toll of bomb attack on UAE-backed mercenaries rises to 8

The death toll from bomb attack on UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Abyan province, southern Yemen, has risen to eight, Yemen News Portal reported, citing local sources.

According to the sources, about 20 mercenaries were wounded in the attack that targeted a military truck carrying soldiers belonging to the Security Belt forces in Zinjibar district.

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) held Hadi’s forces and the Islah Party militants responsible for the attack.

The official spokesperson for the STC in Abyan, Mohammad al-Naqib, said that “terrorist elements are coming from the camps of Hadi and Islah, trying to achieve a political agenda for well-known parties and to reject and disrupt all opportunities for peace.”

He added that the STC “warns against keeping Shabwah provinces and parts of Abyan under the control of Hadi and Islah forces, because the terrorist militias are very active in those areas.”
