President-elect of Iran, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi: Saudi Arabia should stop military operations in Yemen

Iranian President-elect Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi has said on Monday that “there is no objection to reopening the Saudi embassy in Tehran.”

“We welcome the strengthening of relations with all countries of the world and neighbouring countries on our top priorities,” he added, noting that “Iran attaches great importance to good relations with neighbouring countries.”

Regarding the war in Yemen, Raisi stressed that “military operations and the war in Yemen must be stopped urgently,” and “the Yemeni people [should] decide the form of their government, and they [should] decide their fate themselves.”

He continued: “Saudi Arabia should stop its military operations in Yemen, and let the Yemenis form their government on their own,” the newly elected president of the Islamic Republic of Iran said, noting that “Saudi Arabia must stop its attacks that target civilians and infrastructure in Yemen.”
