A number of Al-Qaeda emirs were killed on Friday and Saturday during battles that the Saudi-led coalition opened in Bayda province against Yemeni forces.
According to local sources, Yemeni forces launched a counter-military attack, with artillery shelling targeting al-Qaeda sites in al-Soma’a district and the Tiyab area of Dhi Naem district, killing dozens, including provincial emir Abu Dhar al-Tayabi, and wounding others.
The sources identified several senior members of the terrorist organisation who were killed in the attack, such as Mohammed Hussein Al-Junaidi, the emir of the military wing of Al-Qaeda in the Emirate of Mudiyah area, Tawfiq Al-Farawi, Abdul Hakim Mubarak Al-Qaisi, as well as Othman Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mashdali and Ahmed Mohammed al-Qaisi, the emir in Anah area of Bayda, along with two of his sons.
The Yemeni victory comes just one day after Muammar Al-Eryani, the Information Minister of the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government, announced the start of a military operation under the name of “Piercing Star” in Bayda province.
