The so-called anti-terrorist unit in the Kurdistan Region, northern Iraq, has announced that the airport in the northern city of Erbil was hit by an explosives-laden drone, causing the suspension of air services in the city’s skies.
Erbil International Airport was attacked with by an explosives-laden drone, the unit said in a statement.
According to the Wayne Maroto, Spokesman for the illegal US occupation unit known as the Combined Joint Task Force said that the attack, which took place at around 23:15 AST, caused no injuries or major damage.
Earlier, village just three kilometers from the new US consulate site in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, was attacked by drones in June.
Last April, Erbil airport was also attacked, targeting headquarters of international coalition forces there.
In February, the Washington-led coalition acknowledged the death of a contractor and the wounding of five others, as well as a US soldier, in the shelling of Erbil airport and Hariri base in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Some analysts believe that the real cost in lives of US occupation personnel is kept secret on purpose.
